A Scarf for my Mom

I bought my mom a ready-to-dye scarf kit for her birthday. We tried dyeing it at her house, but the coffee/beet mixture I threw together didn’t give us much in the way of results from sundyeing, so I took it home and resolved to dye it here.

I’ve been playing around with natural dyes for a few years now, and have thought about the magical implications of the dyepot. But actually doing it was different – it was easier to raise the energy than I had anticipated.

So here’s my tiny dye pot into which I’m going to throw the scarf. With pomegranates, red onion skins, and iron from a railroad spike, it should have some strong protective qualities and give her blessings, as a mother, for health and long life.
